The 11th Special Symposium on “Development of Natural Products and Extraction, Separation, and Purification of Traditional Chinese Medicines: Selection and Application Case Analysis of New Technologies and Methods”

From June 14 to 15, the Inaugural Meeting for the Establishment of the China–Malaysia Joint Laboratory on Oil and Fat Processing and Safety under the Belt and Road Initiative, together with the Forum on Future Food Technology and High-Quality Development, was held in Guangzhou. The event was hosted by Jinan University and co-organized by South China University of Technology, South China Agricultural University, the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and several other institutions, attracting participants from the food and oil-and-fat industries in both China and Malaysia.

With the rapid development of the exploration and utilization of natural products and traditional Chinese medicines, new technologies, processes, and equipment for the extraction and separation of active ingredients have increasingly attracted attention. Several modern extraction and separation techniques are demonstrating distinct advantages, including ultrasonic-assisted extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, high-performance preparative liquid chromatography, membrane separation, and macroporous adsorption resins, all of which play a crucial role in the development of natural products and traditional Chinese medicines. Although natural product resources and traditional Chinese medicine culture represent China’s competitive industries, compared with the advanced extraction, separation, and purification processes employed in developed countries, China’s technological capabilities remain at a relatively low level, underscoring the urgent need to upgrade production processes.

At this conference, Shi Anjia led a discussion on the supercritical fluid extraction instrument with faculty members and colleagues. The supercritical fluid extraction instrument is a device that uses supercritical fluids as extractants to separate a specific component (the target extract) from a mixture (the matrix), making it particularly suitable for the extraction and purification of active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicines.

Through this round of communication and exchange, Shianjia Technology has gained greater recognition from more customers. We look forward to Shianjia Technology providing even better service to its clients and achieving mutual progress in the future.
